If you need to create a citation that includes section information using a section symbol (§), here's how to do it.
When creating the reference for the legal work, make sure you include a Shortened Title when filling in the information – for example, Wash. Rev. Code.
- Place your cursor where you want the citation to appear.
- Click Add Citation under the reference in the side panel.
- Under Parts to Include in Citation, uncheck Date.
- Under Choose a Citation Location, click Other.
- In the Label field, enter the section symbol (§).
Mac: press Option + 6
Windows: press Alt + 21 or Alt + 0167 - In the Value field, type the section number.
This will create a citation that looks like this:
(Wash. Rev. Code, § 18.225)
