When creating an APA or MLA paper with PERRLA, page numbers appear flush right in the header of all pages, including the title page.
If your professor or institution requires that the title page have no page number, you can use standard Word functions to adjust this. There is no setting within PERRLA to accomplish it directly.
PERRLA Online users: Wait until you are finished with your paper before making these changes. Export your paper as a Simplified Word Document, open it in Word, and follow the steps below.
Word for Web users: Word for Web does not currently support section breaks. To update page numbering, you will need to use the desktop version of Microsoft Word or another word processor.
Remove the page number from the title page, leaving the next page as page 2
- Double-click in the header section of page 2.
This will open the Header & Footer ribbon in Word. - In the Header & Footer ribbon, click Link to Previous to deactivate it.
- Scroll up to the title page and click inside the header section.
- Highlight the page number in the header.
- Press the Delete key.
Your paper will now have no page number on the title page, with page 2 on the next page. Page numbers will update correctly throughout the paper as you add new pages.
