APA, MLA, or Turabian formats do not offer guidelines for creating a Table of Contents in a paper. However, plenty of professors still ask for their students to create them.
PERRLA's Add-in uses the basic formatting rules for APA, MLA, and Turabian to create a Table of Contents that meets the standards for all three formats.
Before you start a Table of Contents
In PERRLA, the Table of Contents is always built from the Heading styles you insert into your paper, plus any sections you may have added as well. To create a new entry in the Table of Contents, you must use the Headings available in the PERRLA ribbon tab.
How to add a Table of Contents
Once you have a PERRLA paper open and added some Headings to your paper, you're ready to create your Table of Contents.
- Go to the PERRLA ribbon tab.
- Click Table of Contents.
- Click Add Table of Contents.
This will create the Table of Contents section in your paper.
Your Table of Contents will now show all of the headings and sections you've added to your paper. If you add any new headings, they will be automatically added to the Table of Contents.
