The PERRLA Add-in for Word is installed directly inside Word through the Microsoft Word Add-in Store. Here's how to install it using Microsoft Word from the Apple App Store:
- Open Microsoft Word.

Go to the Home ribbon tab.
In older versions of Microsoft Word for Windows, the Add-in button is in the Insert ribbon tab. -
Select Get Add-ins to open Microsoft AppSource in your browser.
If your screen is smaller, you may need to click Add-ins first, then select Get Add-ins from the dropdown. - Search for PERRLA in the search bar.

Under PERRLA in "App results," click Get it now.
You may be prompted to log in to Microsoft. - Click Continue.
- Click Open in Word.

Go back to the Home ribbon tab and select My Add-ins.
If your screen is smaller, you may need to click Add-ins first, then select My Add-ins from the dropdown. -
Click Refresh in the upper-right corner.
- Double-click PERRLA.
The first time you add PERRLA, it may take a few seconds for the Add-in to load. Once loaded, you'll see a tooltip for the PERRLA ribbon tab.
The PERRLA ribbon tab should appear in any Word document going forward. If it doesn't, click Add-ins in the Home ribbon tab, click My Add-ins, and select PERRLA.

Using PERRLA in iOS
You can use the PERRLA Add-in with Microsoft Word on your iPad.
- Open Word on your iPad.
- Go to the Home tab.
- Click Add-ins on the far right.
- Select See All at the bottom of the menu.
- Scroll down and press Add beside PERRLA.
This will open the PERRLA side panel inside Word.
Unlike the desktop version of Word, PERRLA on iOS doesn't include its own ribbon tab. You'll have access to everything through the side panel and menu button.
