If you're citing books, journals, or websites, PERRLA can search for references and automatically import their bibliographic data – no typing required.
This feature works the same way in PERRLA Online and PERRLA for Word.
How it works
- Open your paper and click the References & Citations icon above the Editor.
- Click Create a Reference.
- Type your search terms in the Look up a reference search bar.
You can search by DOI, ISBN, URL, or author and title. - Press Enter.
- Select the reference you want to use.
PERRLA will automatically fill in the reference data for you. If you searched by DOI, ISBN, or URL, PERRLA will take you straight to the form with the data already entered.
Can't find your reference?
Try adjusting your search terms – adding more detail or simplifying your search may help. If you still can't find it, you can create the reference manually by selecting the reference type directly in the Common or All Types tabs of the Reference Wizard.
Improved reference searching
PERRLA has improved how it handles a number of popular sources, including UpToDate, ProQuest, ERIC, Vimeo, CDC, FDA, Census.gov, and YouTube. Results are faster and include more complete information.
DOI search has also been improved. PERRLA can now detect whether a DOI is registered or not – so if the DOI you entered doesn't exist, you'll know right away rather than getting an empty result.
PubMed IDs are also now recognized as a search type. You can search by DOI, ISBN, PubMed ID, URL, or author and title.
