If you're seeing fonts in your PERRLA paper that do not comply with APA requirements (Times New Roman, 12 pt), then there are two courses of action that will address the issue.
Update the master style
- Open the problematic paper
- Go to the Home tab & click Styles Pane
- Click the down arrow on the "APA" style in the list
The "APA" style should appear second from the top in the list. - Select Modify Style
- Change the font to Times New Roman, and set the size to 12 pt
- Click OK
Taking these steps will automatically update all PERRLA items in your paper to the proper format.
Check for conflicts with other Add-Ins
If the issue with incorrect fonts is recurring with all of your PERRLA papers, it may be due to a conflict with other Add-Ins installed into Microsoft Word, particularly if the other Add-In impacts the formatting of text within your paper.
To see whether or not this is an issue, remove other Add-Ins from Word and create a new paper using the PERRLA Word Add-In. If the new paper does not contain any font discrepancies, then one of the removed Add-Ins is the culprit behind the problem.
You may then continue to work without the offending Add-In installed, or you can follow the steps outlined above to update the master style for each of your papers and continue using the conflicting Add-In.
