The first time you use an existing reference in an APA 7 paper, it will need to be updated to the proper format before being added – but PERRLA makes the process straightforward.
Updating your existing reference
When working in an APA 7 paper, you can add any of your old APA 6 references using the Add Reference from Library button in the References & Citations panel.
If a reference hasn't been used in an APA 7 paper yet, it will show + Update & Add to Paper beneath it.
Click Update & Add to review the reference in the PERRLA panel and make any necessary edits. After the review, your reference will be updated to APA 7 format and added to your paper.
Will my APA 7 references also be available in PERRLA Online?
Yes – any references you create or update in PERRLA for Word are also available in PERRLA Online, and vice versa.
