In PERRLA Online, a Discussion Post, a Reference List, or an Annotated Bibliography can be converted into a Research Paper. Converting creates a brand-new paper – your original document is not changed and remains in your papers.
Note: Convert to Research Paper is only available for PERRLA Online papers created after July 28, 2026.
Converting Your Paper
- Open the paper you want to convert.
- Click File in the menu bar.
- Click Convert to Research Paper.
- Click Convert to Research Paper on the confirmation screen.
Your new Research Paper is created and opens automatically.
What Happens During Conversion
What your new Research Paper looks like depends on the type of paper you are converting:
- Reference List – creates a title page, a body, and a reference page.
- Discussion Post – creates a title page, then separates your body content and references onto their own pages.
- Annotated Bibliography – creates a title page, a body containing your annotated bibliography with Heading 2 formatting applied to each reference, and a reference page listing the references without their annotations, since the annotations remain in the body.
Note: MLA papers do not include a title page during conversion, consistent with the MLA format, which does not use a title page.
