When you create a new APA, MLA, or Turabian paper with the PERRLA for Word add-in, the font is set to Times New Roman 12 point by default. This is a widely accepted - and the most used - font style for APA, MLA, and Turabian papers.
However, you may run across a professor who requires you to use a different font in your papers. Don't worry. With a few simple steps, you can change the font in your PERRLA paper in Word.
Please note that you'll need to wait until you are finished with your paper and follow these instructions as your last step.
- Click the Paper Review button in the PERRLA ribbon.
- Click the Create a clean copy button.
This will create a clean copy of the paper without any of the behind-the-scenes components that PERRLA uses to format your paper. You can get more familiar with the Paper Review panel here: Using the Paper Review panel (Word Add-in) - In the newly created clean copy of the paper, go to Word's Home tab.
- In the Styles section of the Home ribbon, right click the APA style.
- Choose Modify.
- In the Formatting section of the box that comes up, choose the font that you'd like to use.
- Click the OK button.
That's all you have to do! The font throughout the paper will be changed to whichever font you choose. Any new text that you add to the paper will now be in the new font.
