Even though the legacy version of PERRLA for Word is no longer functional, you can still access all of your previous PERRLA papers. There are two options:
Accessing older papers through the Legacy application
If you still have the legacy application installed, you can still open any of your existing papers through it. You cannot create new papers or use the legacy application to work on old papers.
When you open your paper through the application, you will see a prompt asking if you would like the PERRLA parts of the paper to be disabled. To open the document, you must click OK to disable the old PERRLA template in the paper. This will remove the non-functioning PERRLA template and leave all of your content exactly as you left it.
Accessing papers directly
If you no longer have the legacy PERRLA application or you want to open your older papers directly (through Finder or File Explorer), you will need to hold down the Shift key on your keyboard when opening the Word document.
This will remove the non-functioning, old PERRLA template from the paper and leave all of your content in place.
If you have any trouble opening one of your legacy papers, feel free to email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) and include the paper that is giving you trouble in the email.
