In order to use the PERRLA for Word add-in, you need to make sure your Microsoft Word is updated to the latest version.
Updating Microsoft Office for Mac that was downloaded from Microsoft
To check for Microsoft Word updates on Mac, follow the steps below.
- Open Microsoft Word and create a new blank document.
- Click the Help menu.
- Click Check for Updates.
This will open the Microsoft AutoUpdate window where you will be able to install any available Microsoft Office updates. The process of downloading and installing the Microsoft Office updates could take upwards of an hour.
Upon clicking Check for Updates, the Microsoft AutoUpdate window may show the text "All apps are up-to-date." This means your Microsoft Word was already up-to-date.
Updating Microsoft Office for Mac that was downloaded from the Mac App Store
If you installed Microsoft Office from the Mac App Store instead of from Microsoft, you may need to check for updates inside the App Store itself.
To check for Microsoft Word updates from the Mac App Store, follow the steps below.
- Open the App Store application.
- Click Updates.
Microsoft Office will be listed if any updates are available.
- Click Update next to Microsoft Office.
This will start the process of downloading and installing any available Microsoft Office updates. This process could take upwards of an hour.
