PERRLA Add-in isn't updated to the latest version

What's happening?

The PERRLA Add-in is installed in your version of Word through the Microsoft Word Add-in Store – like an app on your phone.

When we make changes to the PERRLA Add-in, Word should automatically update your local version with the latest PERRLA changes. On rare occasions, Word will "forget" to update the Add-in for you. The solution is easy.

Uninstall the PERRLA Add-in

First, we'll need to remove the old version of the Add-in. Here are the steps to do that:

1. Open a Microsoft Word document
2. Go to the Home ribbon tab & click Add-ins
   TIP: In older versions of Microsoft Word, you can find the Add-ins in the Insert ribbon tab.
3. Select + More Add-ins
4. Go to the My Add-ins tab in the top-left
5. Hover over PERRLA & click the three-dot menu
6. Select Remove, then confirm to remove the Add-in

PERRLA should disappear from your ribbon bar. Now we can re-install PERRLA to get the latest version.

Re-install the PERRLA Add-in

You'll reinstall the Add-in just like you installed it the first time.

1. Select Store in the Add-in window
2. Search for PERRLA in the Store
3. Click Add & confirm the installation

That's it!

It may take a few seconds for the Add-in to load.  Once it's loaded, you'll see a tooltip for the new PERRLA ribbon tab.

Back to writing

PERRLA should now be reinstalled with the latest version of the Add-in. You should be able to go back to writing and creating perfect papers. If you have any trouble, don't hesitate to reach out to us via email at [e-mail].
