You can now create two new types of papers using PERRLA – Reference Lists and Annotated Bibliographies. These new paper types will be available for the APA 7 & MLA 9 formats.
A Reference List is exactly what it sounds like – a list of references! This is a great choice for when you need to create just some references to paste into another application (e.g., Powerpoint).
By default, these paper types are titled "References" in APA & "Works Cited" in MLA. However, in the Paper Create panel or in the Title Page panel you can edit the title listed at the top of the references.
Reference Lists are just a single section. There isn't a place for a title page or body. The Table of Contents, Abstract, Appendices, Table, and Figure options are disabled for this paper type.
An Annotated Bibliography is very similar to a Reference List except it automatically adds annotations to your references as you add them.
You can adjust the title for your Annotated Bibliography while creating it or using the Title Page panel in PERRLA. By default, these paper types are titled "Annotated Bibliography" in APA & MLA.
Just like Reference Lists the Abstract, Table of Contents, Appendices, Figure, and Table options are disabled since there isn't a place to add those items (it is just an annotated reference section). However, you can still add citations to your annotations if you need.
Still just Word Documents
Just like all your other PERRLA papers, these new paper types are normal Word documents. So you can save them, copy them, or print them just like any other Word file. If you need a version of your paper without the content controls around the references, we suggest you try out our new Paper Review panel to creat a "clean" version of your paper. You can learn more about it here: Using the Paper Review panel (Word Add-in)
Can't find the new paper types?
If your version of the PERRLA Add-in isn't showing the new paper types, you may need to remove & re-install PERRLA from Word. Here are some instructions on how to reinstall the PERRLA Add-in (https://perrla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402854002331-Update-for-the-PERRLA-Add-in-for-Word).
