Individual Acquisition of Office Store Add-ins Problem
An uncommon error that we have encountered with the Add-in happens when an Office 365 Account Administrator turns off Add-in access for those using its licenses.
In this case, you may receive the following error when Adding PERRLA to Word:
"Sorry, Office 365 has been configured to prevent individual acquisition of Office Store Add-ins."
What you can do
1. If you're a student (not the Word Account Administrator)
The easiest solution is to just log out of Microsoft Word.
Here's how you can do that:
Mac
- Open Microsoft Word
- Click Word in the very top menu
- Click Sign out...
Windows
- Open Microsoft Word
- Click File in the ribbon
- Click Account
- Click Sign out
That's it. Now you should be able to add PERRLA from the Microsoft Word store.
There are two other things you may want to know.
You can use the PERRLA Add-in on an iPad with the Word app – the new PERRLA Add-in works 100% with Word on iPad. Be sure you don't use the 365 Account that caused the Add-in error initially.
Contact your school's technology administrator & request Add-in access. This is a setting that your school's Office 365 Administrator has the ability to turn on or off. It is only a setting they control - not Microsoft. You can ask them to update the settings using the instructions below.
2. If you're the Office 365 Administrator
If you are the Office 365 Administrator, you can solve this error by logging into the Office 365 Portal and updating the Office Store settings. Here's how:
- Log into the Office 365 portal
- Go to Admin
- Go to Settings
- Go to Org Settings
- Select User owned apps and services
- Ensure the checkbox for Let users access the Office Store is marked (shown below)
