PERRLA Online's new Paper View makes writing papers easier (and more intuitive) than ever. The ability to show pages inside the Editor is one big reason for that.
Here are a few things you may need to know about page breaks & page numbering in Paper View.
Paper View shows the page breaks that occur between each of the sections of your papers.
For APA, that means there are visible page breaks between the Title Page, Body, and References page. MLA only includes a page break between the Body and the Works Cited page.
Each of these sections is contained on its own "page." However, in this version of the Editor, we aren't able to show page breaks inside of the sections.
This means that although the body of the paper may be three pages long, in Paper View it is all contained on one "page." Don't worry—when you export your Paper the page breaks are inserted naturally in the final document.
In Paper View, we calculate the final page numbers when your paper is exported. However, instead of hiding page numbers completely, we insert a placeholder ("#).
We replace this with the correct page number when you export/download your paper. That way we can be sure everything is correct before you turn it in!
