The last step of writing a paper in PERRLA Online is to get the paper out of PERRLA and into a format where you can turn it in.
The Export/Print Tab
The last tab - when you open a paper in PERRLA Online - is for exporting and printing your paper. You'll need to select what you want your paper to include and how you want to receive your paper.
Choosing what to include
The first part of exporting your paper is to choose what you want to include in the final paper.
A standard research paper should include a Title Page, the Body, and the References (Citations by default). However, you can add or subtract any of the sections to make your paper more complete.
You can also create other types of papers, like an Annotated Bibliography, by only checking References and Annotations.
If you don't have any content for a particular part of the paper, the checkbox will be disabled.
Selecting how you want to receive your paper
You have three options for receiving your paper: Download, Email, and Print.
Downloading the paper will download the paper as the selected file type to your local computer. This is what you'll want to do if you need to upload the paper as an attachment online or in an email to your professor.
When downloading, you can choose between a .doc, .docx, .pdf, or .rtf file. If you're using a recent version of Microsoft Word or another modern word processor, we recommend downloading your paper as a .docx. RTF, however, can be useful if you need to copy the text and paste it into another format (like an online forum).
As a .docx or .doc, you can also choose if you would like for the downloaded paper to be compatible with PERRLA for Word on Mac or PC (Windows). If you want to use PERRLA for Word to keep working on your paper, choose the appropriate option for your computer.
If you choose to email the paper, then we'll send the paper as an email attachment to the email address you provide. While you can use this to email your paper directly to your professor, we won't put any special, grade-pleading text along with it. So you may want to download your paper and add your own special (yet appropriate) flare when emailing it.
If you want to print your paper, you can do that as well!
This option will open a PDF version of your paper in your browser and trigger the print window.
Press the green button
After you've made your selections, press the green button at the bottom of the tab.
That's it! You've successfully completed a paper in PERRLA Online!
