When you started your PERRLA paper, did you accidentally create a discussion post instead of a research paper? Don't worry. You can easily move your text over to a new research paper in just a few steps.
First, though, check out the information at the following link to learn the differences between a discussion post and a research paper:
Research Papers vs. Discussion Posts
Now that we've covered that information, let's get back on track.
There isn't an automatic way to change a discussion post into a research paper. But, you can move your content to a new paper.
Here's how you'd move your discussion post paper's content over to a research paper:
- Open your original discussion post paper in Word.
-
Highlight and copy the body of the original paper.
Make sure you're only highlighting and copying the text in the body. Do not highlight and copy the references. -
Create a new paper with PERRLA for Word.
Make sure you choose Research Paper when creating the paper. - Paste the text that you copied in Step 2 into the new research paper.
-
Add your references through the References & Citations panel.
The references that you added to the original paper will be saved in your library for use with future papers. -
Remove and recreate your citations using the References & Citations panel.
Copied citations will not be associated with the references that you add to the new paper. If you're not concerned with them being connected to the references, you can leave them.
That's it! You'll now have a research paper, complete with a title page and a separate reference page.
