The latest update to the PERRLA Add-in for Word gives you the ability to add your reference's Research Notes directly to your PERRLA papers!
Finding your Research Notes
We've made it easy to access your Research Notes by adding a Research Notes icon directly to the PERRLA ribbon tab in Word. When you click the Research Notes icon, we'll open the Research Notes panel on the right side of Word.
The Research Notes panel will show the Research Notes you've created for each of the references that you've added to your paper. By default, the Research Notes are collapsed under each reference (to save space when you have a lot of them).
You can show the notes for a reference by clicking Show research notes under the reference. You also have the ability to search all of the notes in the paper using the search bar at the top of the panel.
Adding Notes to your Paper
You can add notes to your paper in a similar way to adding citations. Here's how:
- Place your cursor where you want the note to appear in your paper
- Locate the note in the Research Notes panel
- Hover over the note with your cursor & click the blue plus icon
That's it! PERRLA will insert the note into the body of your paper, AND if the note has a citation attached to it, PERRLA will create the citation at the same time. It's pretty slick!
Once you add a Research Note into your paper, it will have a green background (showing you've used it already). However, you can use the same note as many times as you need.
